T-Ball
This program is recommended for “Little League” league ages 4 to 6 year old players to teach the fundamentals of hitting and fielding. All batters will hit the ball from a batting tee which is adjusted to a height that allows the batter to swing level. The entire team bats through the line up each inning, whether playing defensively or not. Adult coaches are stationed beyond the infielders in order to provide instruction to all defensive players. The primary goal is to begin to instruct young players in the fundamentals of baseball in a supportive and FUN team environment. Game times are approx. 1 hour.
T-Ball teams in Nottingham do not travel, they play in town. Past schedules have had our T-ball teams playing games on Friday evenings (roughly 5:30-7:30 pm) and on Saturday mornings, and they play once per week. They will also have one practice per week and that day is dependent on the coach’s schedule and field availability.
T-Ball teams are provided a bag of helmets and bats (bringing their own equipment bat and helmets is optional). Players should bring their own glove, a bottle of water for games and practices, a pair of baseball cleats is option but recommended, and gray baseball pants for games (recommended). As part of registration prior to games starting they will received a team jersey and hat. Parents signing their child/children up to play are encouraged to volunteer to either manage, assist or help for additional supervision (please note per Little League guidelines all managers, coaches, dugout or field parents with direct and regular contact with children are required to complete a volunteer application and have a league background check performed before assisting).
Single A/Farm (A Little League Minors Division)
Children 6 and 7 years old can expect to play at this level. At this level kids know the basics but are learning to play their positions correctly, they are learning some basic game strategies and working on their throwing, fielding and hitting skills. At the Farm level coaches are pitching to the players from a kneeling position. The score isn’t kept and umpires are not used. Teams will travel between the towns of Nottingham, Deerfield, Northwood, Auburn, Raymond and Candia to play 2 games per week during the season. Either in the middle or at the end of the season, there may be a Jamboree, but this level does not have playoffs. This level typically practices once per week.
Bats, helmets and catcher’s equipment are provided for each team (bringing their own bat and helmet is optional). Players will need a glove, baseball cleats, a bottle of water, and a protective athletic cup. As part of their registration players will receive a hat, baseball jersey, baseball socks and belt.
AA/Minors (A Little League Minors Division)
Children 8 and 9 years old can expect to play at this level. These are more or less experienced level players and they will continue building and refining their fundamental skills while they begin to understand more game strategy. At this level players are now pitching in games, however this tends to slow the game down due to the skill level of the pitching. It is at the AA/Minor league level that players first experience kid pitch as well as end-of-season playoffs. Additionally, the rules include inning runs limits and the opportunity to start stealing bases. There is also the opportunity to try out for post-season tournament competition, with district, state, and regional levels of play.

AAA (A Little League Minors Division)
Children 10 years old with potentially some 9 (based on evaluations) can expect to play at this level. AAA is a Little League Minors division intended to help children further develop their skills in preparation for higher level play. Expectations are generally the same as AA/Minors with some rules resembling Majors level play (i.e. dropped third strike).

Majors
Children 11 and 12 years old players can expect to play at this level. 10 year old placement at this level is dependent on evaluation results and available space. Little League Baseball is played under Little League Official Baseball Rules, but implements some special rules as necessary for the development and welfare of this age group. The game is played on a 60-foot diamond with a pitching distance of 46 feet.
Preseason there will be practices at least twice per week and when games begin there will be at least two games per week and at least one practice. Teams will travel between the towns of Nottingham, Deerfield, Northwood, Auburn, Raymond and Candia.
There are post season playoffs and an opportunity to try out for post-season tournament competition, with district, state, and regional levels of play.
Equipment is provided to each team (helmets, bats and catcher’s equipment…use of your own bat, helmet and other equipment is permitted so long as they meet Little League guidelines), however players need their own gloves, cleats, bottle of water and it is required they wear a protective athletic cup.
*Please Note: Situations where, based on evaluations, a child may display signs of beginner/advanced skills will be determined on a case by case basis and at the discretion of the town director, Lamprey River Little League Board and/or our Lamprey River Little League Player Agent.
**Evaluations at A/Farm and above levels to ensure a level playing field and balance amongst teams (evaluations not performed for T-Ball aged children). It is important to note that “evaluations” ARE NOT a “tryout.” The use of evaluations help keep fair and balanced play across our entire league!
